REST.RECHARGE & ROAM.

I’m always particularly excited when I stumble across a boutique & unique stay, incredibly, when I am the first to find it and one of the first few to stay there. ‘REST, RECHARGE & ROAM’, as they say at The Cove, is precisely what you do here.

An adults-only retreat, The Cove, located in the North West Region, allows you to explore this breathtaking and undiscovered part of Tasmania.

Devonport, you have everything at your fingertips before heading back to your wilderness retreat to leave the cares of your world behind and create a sense of calm.

Wellness retreat offerings for your to fall in love with this beautiful place to stay, Rest. Recharge and Roam.

On the first visit, we stayed in the Villa, and on our most recent trip in July 2022, we tried out one of the cliffside chalets, which are equally spectacular in their surprising ways. It all depends on what you are looking for. Book now below.

WHY WE LOVE IT!

I had found this one online, back in 2020 and went in April just after it’s opening.

As usual, seeking something unusual. Looking to try a new place to stay, it looked incredible from the images, and I was intrigued to see more. So, my husband and I booked for it was a birthday excursion to Tasmania to explore and certainly wind down too. Captivated instantly by the view, we were unsure what to expect as we drove into what.

I remember driving from Launceston, and I won’t lie. We were hesitant about this accommodation as it was new and had no idea what we were expecting. We needn’t have been.

I remember the first thing was the view; it was so dramatic, scenery capturing a cliffside, ocean and then literally in front of us a field full of beautiful highland cows and llamas; it was spectacular.

Upon entering the villa was breathtaking. A minimalist design and decor with a gorgeous colour palette included the floor-to-ceiling windows all around the villa so you could see out as you walked around the estate into the next room.

Floor-to-ceiling windows captured every angle of the view, which was the sea and straight in front of us, the highland cows, alpacas, sheep, and goats, making it feel genuinely picturesque. We were overlooking The Cove, further down by the cliff edge, where we stayed on our second visit.

With a real emphasis on wellness and relaxation, this is a place they wanted you to come to. To relax, recharge & roam.

Penguins pop out at dusk on their private cove, or you could go on a tour to see them tucked away on the hill, sheltering in their little holes. No matter how old you are, seeing animals & penguins in the wild on your doorstep in Australia truly blows your mind!

Proud of what they have created and delighted to share it with you. I remember when she showed us the 5 Hillside hardtop glamping cabins nestled back into the hill of Cheviot Dale Farm and overlooking Cheviot Beach. She told us what we could do, the hikes, seeing the penguins at nighttime, coming down to the Alexander Centre as the Villa is the only one with a kitchen. All the rest share the communal kitchen, which is stylishly designed and immaculate. The sense of communal living with a fire-pit, then outside to listen to the roar of the waves or if you wanted to sit in the collaborative living space, read a book, share a wine.

They have thought of everything; it’s all there for you to do as you choose.

Kim’s first words to us were oh, you're going to be lucky tonight. It looks like it’s going to be an incredible sunset. When she said this, I, having travelled Globally, thought ‘ok’ lovely. Little did I know how great it was. We were truly blown away. The beauty of all the colours changing in front of us on the ocean, I’ve never seen anything quite as stunning and calming; listening to the roar of the sea and the odd occasional highland cow wanting in on your experience, and don’t forget a glass of wine in hand, that’s it we were sold.

Kim is the most incredible woman; as she took us around, we laughed and told stories, and she is a true host. I could do a full story on her, but that’s not for the next time.

WHERE WE STAYED

Villa 256

The first time we stayed in 2021, upon its opening, we instantly chose villa Two.Five.Six, is a self-contained luxury escape, stunningly built, and the interior has been decorated to complement the outside. The colours and textures are striking; with the floor-to-ceiling windows, as you walk around the villa, you can take in the view from every angle, almost a 360-degree panoramic view.

The villa, our accommodation, just took it to the next level. The luxury, yet minimalist styling and décor, complemented by a gorgeous colour palette, a plush mix of cosy textiles, and the floor-to-ceiling windows, all added up to be exquisite design. They certainly knew what they were doing when they built this Villa. We could not believe how stunning it was, we’d lucked out again!

I was enjoying the sunrise and the spectacular colours, the highland cows and llamas, view of the cliffside and sea, whilst simple peace and tranquillity. My favourite time of day was on our private deck with a glass of wine, watching the sunset and then getting cosy with the fire inside.

The morning view from the bed is one to behold, and in the bath well, you can watch the outside world and the beautiful scenery whilst relaxing. The stars at night mesmerise you.

The Cliffside Chalets

On our most recent trip, I tell you, if I find a place I love, I’ll be back, and Kim, who owns The Cove, makes it even more of a magical stay. Kim has this beautiful, welcoming personality. This stay was in one of the Cliffside Chalets that sit overlooking Cheviot Beach; stunning ocean views, and the sound of the ocean, although it was cold outside watching the sunsets and sunrise, I snuggled under a blanket outside to enjoy the most resplendan golden hour. We did though end up ontinuing to enjoy it cosied up inside the Chalet on a comfy chair watching the sun go down, and in the morning what a view of from your bed, endless ocean in front of you.

The Chalets don’t have a kitchen, only a very stylish en suite bathroom along with the whole interior.

Alexandra Centre

This communal space comprises of a large lounge area to share with others, a kitchen/ dining room to cook in or there is a BBQ area and a large courtyard outside with a great fire to congregate around.

It has everything you need. Purchase your food in town I’ll tell you where in my tips below as it’s fabulous and we go there every time. Then enjoy cooking for yourself, enjoy the view and chat with other guests. Enjoy the tranquillity at the Cove.

To note if you feel like it now you can order a menulog, which does sometimes take the pressure off cooking if all you want to do is simply relax. We did this, so just enjoyed the view, the peace and a great wine as Tasmania is known for.

When booking with us, you can organise VIP hassle-free options exclusive to Freya Enright. To find out more, contact me and book through Freya Enright.

Conscious Luxury|DESIGN

Designed with luxury but minimalist styling to bring comfort indoors, whilst ensuring the main feature is the wildlife and land outside to be the main feature.

As I said to Mikey, when the sun went down and you wanted to be a little more cosy, you could go into the Villa where we stayed put the fire on, and not miss out on the beauty that was outdoors.

We seek these places to enjoy being in nature, peace. The interior design has been crafted superbly even if you wanted a bath you didn’t miss out on the view as the floor to ceiling windows, let you enjoy the moment even more. Mindfully created for conscious luxury.
